Supreme Court Ruling, God’s Purpose and Standard Win!

In light of the recent Supreme Court decision, my son reminded me of Numbers 14:21, spoken to Israel in the wilderness: “But truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD!” In that day, God had a purpose. God swore: “…all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD!” For the Children of Israel in the wilderness, the next step in being used by God to advance God’s purpose was for them to believe God’s promise and purpose and go forward to take possession of the Promised Land which included subduing and evicting the inhabitants of the land. The Children of Israel refused to do so.

God’s purpose has not changed, but in this way it has changed – the Church is not called to take up the sword against anyone but only the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Jesus has commended us to “…make disciples of all the nations.” (Matthew 28:18-20) And God has promised to bring to nothing the nations and peoples that oppose His purpose (see Psalm 2; Habakkuk 2:13,14).

The highest court in our Land has put in place an ungodly law that binds all states to accept same-sex “marriages”. This they did after the general population demonstrated again and again that the majority of the people were against it. We understand that what they did was and is against God’s law which has some things to say about homosexuality.

So what do we do now? We continue to labor for that which God revealed as His purpose in Numbers 14:21 (and the other verses mentioned), we labor to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, until such knowledge is as a great flood that covers the earth and all the peoples are worshiping the True and Living God, and obeying Him (“…teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you…”).

This Supreme Court decision is rebellion against the True and Living God and against the King of all kings and Lord of all lords and Judge of all judges, against Jesus Christ, risen from the dead and seated at God’s right hand, and Who is now subduing all such opposition as the Supreme Court recently  honored and countenanced in their codification of wickedness (Hebrews 10:12; 1 Corinthians 15:20-28; Psalm 2).

We go forward in courage and faith, because Jesus Christ leads forward, subduing all opposition. To be clear as possible, so that twisters of these words may be hard pressed to twist, I repeat that Jesus does not take up physical sword or guns, neither does He direct His followers to do so, but He sends us forth in the power of the Holy Spirit to proclaim His truth. May God give us wisdom and anointing to do so!

The civil government of which the Supreme Court is part is responsible to God to use the sword against evil doers (Romans 13); it is not to bestow honor where God has withheld it as in this recent same-sex ruling.
